Music Makes Everything Better!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Sunday! For me, it was a much awaited rest day and gave the legs a welcome recovery time. They were a little sore from the 7.5 on Saturday.

This morning consisted of a lifting session at home. I like lifting at the gym better because I feel like I work harder when I'm at the gym... Perhaps it's all the mirrors? *flex*flex*pose*
As you can see, I get easily distracted at home lifting. I probably spent half of my time this morning dancing to new music on my iPod shuffle. The fact that I was up and out of bed, garden watered, and working out at 6:00am didn't help. Although I'm a morning person, my mind isn't fully focused quite that early!

My cat was pretty crazy this morning, too. This is Ollie and he's the cutest little kitten you'll ever meet. His tail in this picture is about 3 times its normal size because he was insistent on sprinting to and fro around the apartment  and attacking the corner of the area rug in the kitchen. He nearly took me out while I was laying down doing my physical therapy exercises! :) I love him to death! And his twin brother Orion, who is probably still sleeping.

After weights came breakfast, and since I don't have all the ingredients to make overnight oats like I usually do, or even a bagel to grab, it was scrambled eggs time.

They were so good! I added fresh basil and oregano leaves from my garden and sprinkled Parmesan cheese on them. And I couldn't resist picking more fresh items from my garden to have for lunch.
I made a wonderful salad of romaine lettuce, red leaf lettuce, basil, oregano, baby spinach, and Swiss chard, all fresh! It looks amazing and smells amazing but I haven't eaten it yet... Although I'm sure it will taste incredible as well!

Since I haven't gone for my run yet today and this is really the only time I'll have to blog, I thought, what could I talk about today that someone would want to read? I know I'm always looking for new music and since pretty much all I've done so far today is listen to music, I figured why not share my playlist with you?!

The songs I'm going to list are oldies, newies (is that a word?), and everything in between. There are some songs in this workout plethora of music that I wouldn't normally advertise that I listen to. Please don't judge me by it. I think anyone with a workout playlist has songs or artists they listen to that they don't want anyone to know about!! That being said, this list is also from last summer. In some other post I will add my newer songs. However, I only added my new workout songs to my shuffle and I don't have that with me right now to see what they are. So here it goes: (Oh, and they're organized by BPM, or beats per minute. Because I'm a nerd like that and a tad OCD)

Some of these songs swear and have crude language, so if you are sensitive to that sort of thing, preview them with caution.

Before you go, help me out by leaving a comment and answering some questions I have.
What are some of your "can't-live-without" workout songs?
Do you prefer to exercise in the morning, mid-day, afternoon, or evening?
What's your go-to breakfast? Your go-to lunch?

Safe and happy running!

  1. Jamie from DM, first off great blog it's a fun read. I'd like to do one but I tend to ramble on and have horrible grammer which I'm sure you've noticed.

Songs on the run list that start off my run is On Foot and Carry On by Fun. I think they were made for runners. Also Attack and BYOB by system of a down along with a few Foo Fighers and Beastie Boys how can anyone not have Sabotage.

I like to get out mid morning 9ish but with work that's not to accomidating so I guess I need to start looking for a job.

Pre run I eat light bananna, toast, or granola bar. Post run I inhale anything I can find. I've been making this salmon burger patty thing which isn't bad if you like fish.

Anyways great blog and hope to see a lot more entries.
